Scam & Security Awareness Tips for Borrowers

Loan Modification Scam
We have received tips that scammers are contacting borrowers and offering note modifications via email and online forms. A scammer might contact you pretending to be your lender and offer to “modify,” “assume,” or “restructure” your loan or note. They often use urgent language, request upfront fees, or ask you to send payments to a new or unfamiliar account.
To help protect yourself:
- Verify the source. If you receive a call, text, email, or letter about changing your loan terms, contact us through trusted information or at 850-526-4910 or membercare@farmcredit-fl.com. Do not contact the number or email address listed on a false notice you receive. If you already have a Farm Credit contact or a saved number, you may continue using it.
- Guard your personal information. We will not contact you unexpectedly to ask for your full Social Security number, online banking passwords, or one-time passcodes. Do not fill a DocuSign unless you have verified it to be legitimate with a Farm Credit of Northwest Florida team member.
- Be cautious of pressure tactics. Scammers may claim you’ll lose your property or “miss out” if you don’t act immediately.
